While she was showering…

Dresses

So, I’m hooked!Β  This is a new dress that I stitched up while my girlie was in the shower…last summer…or was it the one before?Β  I made her a dress from this yellow raindrop fabric…so now Caramel has a matching dress!

My plan is to make another dress, one green felt coat…then Caramel will be ready to go out!

New wardrobe for Caramel

My girlie has been “requesting” for new dresses for Caramel (i.e. a caramel coloured kitty I made for her – 2011 x’mas present – inspired by Manomine)…she even drew boatloads of pictures for me… πŸ™‚

My right hand joints are killing me…even after multiple acupuncture appointments…so my crafting mind and soul needed to focus on something positive…

Digging through a small stash of cute fabric I’ve “collected” and saved for a special project, I closed in on this one that was purchased a while back at Peapod Fabrics in SF…

The bright colourway and cute birdies brighten up my sinus infected/achy flu body…I had so much fun sewing it…while my sick girlie was watching Aristocats…

Not sure how many I can manage…but will definitely make one dress that matches for her and her Caramel… πŸ™‚

Volunteer mommy

December 14, 2012

I firmly believe that every moment IS a teachable moment…ok, so a co-worker has made fun of me…lots…but I stand firm…

Took a vacation day off to volunteer for the annual “Winter Program” (as the wardrobe/last minute sewing “person”) at my daughter’s school….which is where I work… πŸ™‚ Β Yes…some co-workers wonder why…some parents wonder why…well…I did NOT…

I brought my favourite pin cushion made by my sister…wore it around my neck and went to work…first there were little projects to finish various costumes, then there were 8th graders who handed me a vest with a button that came off…the projects kept coming and I shed my usual work mode to mix with the students…priceless…

They saw me with new light, as a mommy helping our beloved Music Director work her magic on stage…we worked together…as a team…I am the lucky one who saw them shine backstage…

With tears in my eyes, I am so proud of these “children” of mine…they are all grown up, each shone brightly on stage…THIS is the reason I am on this planet πŸ™‚

Yes…I was…hmmm how best to describe my mood?Β  Down in the dumps…

My right hand is in pain…the right index finger/palm joint and the on Saturday morning while I was knitting…this crazy electric shock like pain started at my palm right under my ring finger and went all the way up to my underarm….

I tried to ignore it and kept on knitting…but when my acupuncturist “recommended” me to stop, I knew he is right…after all, my hubby and sisters have told me like a MILLION times!!

My life as I know it…is OVER….yes….I’m being dramatic…but not really…

Ok…fine, I can sew with my machine…I DO need some new clothes…BUT!Β  Knitting is my craft of choice…I can be on the couch…a warm bundle in my lap…no machinery, no electricity…no fuss…just, my hands, needles and wooly goodness…

It’s been 43 hours…this is awful…I’m thinking of Sinead O’Connor’s song….bad part is that I still have to type a lot for work…

I’m beyond freaking out about not being able to finish X’mas presents at this point…just freaking out about how to find the right sewing projects to replace the knitting presents!!

Hahahaaaaa….sigh…some good must come out of this…I have faith…

Gator bag in progress…

Gator bag

It’s be painful…in the actual physical sense…

My right hand/index finger joint’s been really acting up…

The Omron electro therapy machine from my bro-in-law helps some, but in reality, it only helps a little with the pain…

My hubby reminded me how for as long as he’s known me (15 years coming) I’ve had to rest my hands for a period of time…i.e. NO knitting…URG…

The holidays are upon us…I can’t do it…must finish all the presents or bust!Β  Hahahaaa…sigh…

Time to ask my acupuncturist to help out!! πŸ™‚

Inchworms galore!

Apologize for the not so great photo…

These cute little inchworms finally can see!!Β  We had a fitting for our kids this morning and I was the lucky mom who got to glue those eyes on…

Can’t wait…

The art of being humble…

December 4, 2012

Kate Davies inspired me to overcome my fear of Fair Isle projects by posting all her amazing designs on her blog…THAT was over a year ago, when I said to myself…it’s time…it’s time…

Now?Β  I’m hooked…not sure if anyone out there remembers this phrase “Hooked on Classics”…that was something that came into my head…probably back in the 80’s…Okok, I digress…HOOKED ON FAIR ISLE!!!Β  Hahahaaaa….that’s me…only thing is that I wish my hands will co-operate…Okok, let’s get back to Kate!

She’s creative, smart and well, amazing overall…how about her latest blog thanking us…my parents taught us to be humble…we are practicing it each and everyday…it’s almost a lost art…I hope it’s being passed on to the new generation.

We try our best to pass on all the good stuff our parents shared with us…

Kate…you rock… πŸ™‚
