Little did I know…

Ants will invade my work desk…I screamed when a co-worker handed this flower to me…from her garden…thank you!!

About an hour later, there’s this little lone ant…crawling across my desk…

About half hour after that?  Another one…then I realized that they ALL came from this flower!!!!  Sadly…I found a whole colony hanging about the stem…sorry to see the flower go…but I can’t possibly let them infest my work place…

Knitting again…

July 23, 2012

After what feels like months of sabbatical from my knitting, I’m finally getting back into it…my right elbow seems ok after about an hours’ worth of it last night.  Not to bad, I suppose.  But seriously, I was not knitting at my regular pace…even my sis noticed…but I need to get back to it.  I have SO many to finish up…and frankly, it’s gnawing at me…I need to finish a handful before this winter comes.

This “Owly” for my sis has been hibernating for months…I’ve finally got the right needles for the sleeves…I can’t wait to see her wearing it with the sort of matching tote bag I made 🙂  with love…

My li’l sis has been an amazing help around our house…she’s on vacay and working hard…

According to our DIY tradition 🙂  I offered to make her a double sided tote bag with our have owly fabric and light weight denim.  2 hours later?  It’s ready!  I’ve never been so focused working on a sewing project…it’s so very satisfying handing it to her…thanks, babe!

Pinterest fever?!

July 19, 2012

Oh boy…finally, I’ve found something that can take my mind off not being able to knit…

Pinterest!

It’s so addictive…so so addictive!  I’ve never used my laptop this much…with working with a computer all day at the office, I usually “log off” at home…now that my co-worker turned friend introduced me to Pinterest, I’m “pinning” away at night…it’s neat…it’s fun, it’s crazy addictive…

See you there!  Oh, I’m Barb L. in case you wonder…ciao!

We’ve been very lucky to have a nice little mom and pop store close by that sells some of our favorite teas.

They are great…there’s our back up tea bags, PG; Yorkshire Gold and our very favourite Taylors of Harrowgate.  Well, if I have to be picky, my all time favourite is Royal Blend by Fortnum & Mason.  We used to be able to order it via their USA location on the East Coast.  $10- for ground shipping and we get 4 cans of it to maximize our shipping fee – we share them with my siblings and we are happily brewing away…

I have NO idea what happened…we, in the US lost our only Fortnum & Mason local connection…what did we do??  I felt abandoned…drinking a PG tea…it’s bearable…not the same as a freshly brewed pot of tea (loose leaves)…so there goes our search…mine really.  My siblings count on me 🙂

Williams Sonoma website showed that they carry Royal Blend?  Ooooo…oh, no stock.  I can wait…so I waited and waited…it went from “No Stock” to “We do not carry it”…WHAT?!

Fine, I refuse to give up…thanks to Amazon, I managed to get 2 cans of Earl Grey and Black tea with Rose from Taylors of Harrowgate at a better price, yes, I had to spend the kaching first…but I know I have them in my tea cabinet!

Then came our Napa trip not to long ago, nice day trip out of San Francisco to find the sun shining brightly in the valley…we stopped off at Dean & Deluca before we drove home at the end of the afternoon to find TONS of teas…this one, TWG caught my eye…nice packaging, the date 1837 on it and all…the sample smelled great…FOOLED…at $26- a can!  Fooled by the packaging and the date…

Never did get to read the whole story about TWG while we were in the store (for maybe 10-15-20 minutes?)…serves me right, next time, I’ll know better….as sis pointed out, the date 1837 does NOT have “depuis” next to it…and where’s the tea made?  SINGAPORE?  Where?  I see…it’s all marketing…I should’ve known…

The Earl Grey I bought for my husband – aroma was lovely when one smells the dried leaves, but brewed?  It’s alright, definitely not made with real bergamot…at this price, I am a little disappointed…oh well…now, I’ve just got to get my mommy to try the one I got for her…

Life is not ever perfect, we just need to learn to be content with what we have….one day, I hope I can get some Fortnum & Mason Royal Blend…hopefully, happily brewing in our nice china pot covered by Kate Davies’ Sheep Carousel tea cozy knitted by me 🙂

There must be something going on astrologically…hahahaaaa….yep…something to do with growth, learning…

Thanks to my co-worker/friend who introduced me to the Instagram world, I’m dipping my feet into the cyber world in a major way today…I’ve been pondering…ok, so in order for me sign up for a Pinterest account, apparently, I have to have either a Twitter or Facebook account…hmmm…no, FB is just not for people like me.

Twitter…oh…I have NO idea that’s how it works?!  Yikes…so here I am…clicking “Pin It”… 🙂  Even with a bad ear ache…chills…the symptoms of a cold…I can still click away?

WHEN am I going to ever knit again?!  Actually…tough topic that, my right elbow is really hurting…I have refrained from knitting for a while now…ok, I sure sound like a recovering addict…a few stitches here and there, but nothing more…I’m hoping to go back to a bit a regular exercise routine after this cold business and maybe, just maybe my muscles will be stronger and my tendons will not feel this way….

We are celebrating her greatness in our household by watching all her movies…re-reading her books…

Sleepless in Seattle is next…

An attempt to revive my first blog…

Today, I said…I need to take another look at my first blog ever…then something in me clicked…I posted…maybe, just maybe I will have time to write here and there…and oh…right, Instagram…well, that is simple and quick…

Here’s my old self…did a little editing…but it’s me…hope to see you there…

Oh…how I love my sweet puppy…he’s my first love…puppy love, really…

He’s been with me through thick and thin for 36 years…

What a good boy he’s been…

My daughter adores him…

We handle him gently…lovingly…

He’s one of the best gifts…well…considering the horrid tantrum I had…it’s amazing my dad bought him for me…you see, I HAD to have him…our eyes locked and that was it!  At an ice-cream place…thanks, dad…best money spent!

Instagram madness!!

July 3, 2012

My cool co-worker/friend introduced me to Instagram…ok ok….I knew about them…just never thought I’d love it…so never even looked at it until about 2 weeks ago…

OMG!!!  My world is changing rapidly and I’m not sure if I’ll ever have time to knit again!  YES…I mean it!  By the way, my screen name on Instagram is: baaballaa

Yes…I know…inspired by an elder I know and adore 🙂

Perhaps I’ll see you there soon?
